After years of waiting and anticipation, Kojima revealed the new game, Death Stranding 2, during the latest video game awards ceremony, The Steam Awards 2022, and it will be released exclusively on PS5.
The Japanese director shared more information about the upcoming game with us during his talk on the Brain Structure Podcast, where he discussed recent technological improvements that have helped the development team overcome many challenges and accomplish things they wouldn't have been able to without the advancements in technology, adding:
This is the second time I've worked with actor Norman Reedus, but technology has improved dramatically in recent years.
Things that were once impossible are now possible, and these things challenged us, the game will not be just an ordinary sequel in that sense.
There's not much I can share at the moment, but Death Stranding 2 will introduce new elements that balance what we've done in the past, in order to appeal to both new and returning players.
Does this mean that Death Stranding 2 will contain additional elements that were missing from the first part?
In other news, we mentioned that the game will support MetaHumans technology, as the game will provide a visual experience that surpasses what impressed us in the first part, but it seems that Kojima, through the impressive Guerrilla Decima Engine studio, wants to take the character design standards and the movement system to another level, exploring the MetaHumans technology powered by Unreal Engines.
