Zombie survival game World War Z: Aftermath is officially coming to the new generation of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S devices this month, January 24, 2023, with exclusive content, as announced by developer Saber Interactive.

Players who own the previous-gen PS4 and Xbox One versions can upgrade the game to the new-gen version for free, which will be playable in 4K resolution at 60 frames/s.

The game's launch on next-gen platforms will be accompanied by the release of free exclusive content, including the new Horde Mode XL game mode, which will be playable only on these platforms.

Developer Saber Interactive described the development of the new game as follows:

Horde Mode XL follows the same rules as the game’s standard Horde mode, with a devilish twist – new waves will spawn between regular waves of enemies. Each special XL wave consists of over 1,000 ravenous zombies.

Owners of World War Z: Aftermath and World War Z on all platforms except Nintendo Switch will also receive a free update on January 24 that adds new Transformers to the standard Horde Mode Z gameplay, as well as new weapons and an updated weapon upgrade system.

Developer Saber Interactive also stated that the number of players playing the game has reached 20 million since its launch in 2019. We note that the studio is developing a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
