After showing off the return of Nina Williams and several new gameplay mechanics, Bandai Namco's popular fighting game Tekken 8 has received another teaser for the game. This time the focus is on Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama's father and Heihachi's son, who survived what happened in Tekken 7.
In addition to his familiar fighting moves and attacks, Kazuya can transform into Devil Kazuya. This demonic version shoots laser beams at his opponent and even hits them from the air to deal massive damage. The demo also shows us cool fighting moves like the new Heat Burst and Heat Engager and how to become Kazuya by performing some special moves. We will witness the return of many characters who have been absent from many parts during the upcoming eighth season. In addition, the forms of familiar characters have been shown through Unreal Engine. The main ones are LAW, REI, and others.
At the time of the reveal, the game impressed many players. The presentation will be a major technical leap for the entire series, as director Katsuhiro Harada and executive producer of TEKKEN 8 confirmed that everything in the game was built from scratch using the Unreal Engine 5 engine and without relying on any elements from the development of the previous installments.
Tekken 8 is in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. A release date has not yet been announced, but publisher Bandai Namco is aiming for the game to launch before April 2024.
TEKKEN 8 takes place after the terrible battle that ended in Heihachi Mishima's defeat, this time focusing on a new competition between father and son, as Jin Kazama challenges Kazuya Mishima's quest for world domination.
Katsuhiro Harada, Chief Producer at Bandai Namco Studios, said:
We’re incredibly excited to show you the next generation of TEKKEN. The team at Bandai Namco Studios has been hard at work bringing innovative new features to TEKKEN 8, continually enhancing the feeling of power in battle by harnessing the power of the latest generation of consoles. We can’t wait to show you more in the coming months!
For over 25 years and to this day, TEKKEN has represented a great deal in terms of innovation and uniqueness in the fighting game genre,” says Arnaud Müller, CEO of Bandai Namco. Adding that they are looking forward to showcasing the exciting features, characters and stories that this installment of the series will provide to continue to push the fighting game genre forward.
