Mod development was nothing new to the industry, because on October 26, 2004, we saw creator Aaron Deneau share on the game’s forum what he was going to do for GTA San Andreas – completely transform the game. This is the day the game was released on the PS2 platform for the first time.
The time the game was released on PS2... was not the same as the time it was released on PC, as we saw it in June of the following year. In other words, we saw Deneau's post 8 months before the game was released on PC, and since then he decided to work on a project to convert the game into Mad Max 2.
For 18 years, work has been underway on the project of converting GTA San Andreas into Mad Max 2. During these long years, many volunteers came to make the mod, and many left. During this time, one of the volunteers died in a traffic accident. Some of them lost their passion and neglected the road. Where the conversation moved from forums to the Messenger app.
Sadly, in 2016, after feeling hopeless due to the lack of interest in the project and his own concerns over his brother's cancer diagnosis, Deneau retired from working on the project altogether. But thankfully, it wasn't long before he decided to get back into it.
He tirelessly continued to develop models of the vehicles and weapons from the films that have shaped his taste in cinema for over 40 years. Within a series of games that have earned his admiration in recent years, he is determined to finish bringing Mad Max to GTA: San Andreas.
I can't think of any other way I would love to spend my life.
Anyway, if you want to see the rest of the designs from the project, you can visit the official page that contains most of the initial designs that Deneau is working on on the Artstation website.
