Being a fan of video games and having admiration or affiliation with a gaming company like Nintendo is normal for any gamer, but buying all of the company's games for any reason is called true passion.
Famous content creator Gerard Khalil, known as “The Completionist”, through his YouTube channel and his accounts on the social networking platform, acquired the entire collection of 866 games for the Wii U platform and the entire collection of games for the portable 3DS platform, which totaled 1547 games through the digital store.
The total purchase amounted to around $ 22,791, equivalent to £18,715, and took around a year to buy it all in. While its size reached 1.2TB of Wii U games and 267GB of 3DS games, plus its own DLC.
We know that Nintendo has announced that it is in the process of limiting support for its digital store on the aforementioned devices, starting on March 27th next year, as there will be no more titles or promotions that will be added, or even a financial transaction. But the online service will not be completely shut down, as the company stated in its statement:
Even after March 27, 2023 and for the foreseeable future, it will still be possible to redownload games and downloadable content, receive software updates, and play online on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
Khalil had some issues with credit cards and eShop digital wallet funds being added to his account, but he overcame this by ensuring these addresses were preserved for as long as possible as it would be difficult to obtain physical copies of the games.
