We recently got a sneak peek at many of the big new titles coming from Xbox Studios during the event, which really brought back memories of the old E3 expo. But perhaps on the other hand, this issue has raised the ire of the other half of the gaming community, namely PlayStation fans.
After the big event ended, we got a look at many of the illustrious titles coming from Xbox Studios and its third-party partners. There was a lot of engagement with new announcements taking the internet by storm, such as the new Gears 6 game, DOOM, Fabe, and other high-quality titles. On the other hand, PlayStation fans launched a massive attack on Sony and PlayStation's social media accounts.
According to Push Square, PlayStation fans are now demanding a Microsoft-style Showcase event to showcase their AAA titles. Some said, “Bring us a good show like this.” Others said, “I hope you watched the show.” And yet another said, “That’s what we want.”
Many are calling for Sony and PlayStation to learn from Microsoft's decision to showcase its new titles and move forward with hosting a similar PS Showcase event.
Last year, Sony held a PS Showcase event, but it lacked the power and confidence of older PlayStation consoles. Just over a week ago, we had a smaller State of Play event, and it wasn't as satisfying for fans who've been waiting all year for this kind of marketing blast.
Sony has been heavily criticized in the past for revealing games too early in development. Now it finds itself criticized for not following the same philosophy as before. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't. After all, as we've pointed out, the public doesn't lie. It's been a long time since PlayStation has delivered a presentation that has received universal acclaim, and at some point that will have to change.
Sony is still silent on these moments, and PlayStation Studios is still silent about what is being prepared within it. But we are sure that Sony will have a role to play in this annual wedding, but the time has not yet come.
