Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will only be released on current-gen devices, with the exception of last-gen devices. This was not previously clarified by developer Respawn Entertainment until this point, where we finally get the justification for it.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director Stig Asmussen revealed during a conversation with PLAY magazine why there is no PS4 and Xbox One version. Asmussen explained that it all comes down to the fact that developer Respawn Entertainment is looking to leverage the current hardware capabilities to their full potential. This has resulted in what the director called “a true new gem of an experience in the Star Wars universe.”
The game really looks like a next-gen game, and that's what everyone noticed during the latest video to review it, as the big difference appeared in most aspects of the previous version intended for the last generation. The director continued talking about it:
In short, we quickly learned that we can leverage faster processors, more memory, better load times, etc. to create much larger maps with more detail, greater density, greater enemy/NPC variety, and overall fidelity. This next generation has allowed us to do just that, and I think that translates into a truly next-gen experience in the Star Wars universe.
The team announced a few days ago that the game's release date has been delayed by about a month. Its new release date is April 28th instead of March 16th, which was the previous date. It is also mentioned that the game will have features that were not present in the previous part. For example, the player will be able to ride creatures and use them to move around, there will also be fast travel and much more.
