The green console gaming community is eagerly awaiting the upcoming exclusive Starfield, a title that reportedly takes on the rival console's major exclusives. The game's director has something to say about the game not being released on PS5 and how this has helped them in the development process.
Starfield Game Director Todd Howard He recently appeared on a podcast episode recorded with a YouTube creator. The director discussed several of his upcoming titles, including the aforementioned game, Elder Scrolls 6, Skyrim, and more.
The most important thing the director said was how not releasing the game on PlayStation 5 helped them in the development process of Starfield. He said the following:
Not releasing the game on PS5 helped us focus throughout the development process.
The game is focused on development as an Xbox Series and PC exclusive.
The idea of developing on a smaller number of devices gave us more resources to leverage during the development process.
The director said he was happy that the game was completely exclusive to Microsoft, as he stated that even if Bethesda had not been acquired by the aforementioned company, he would have liked the game to be exclusive to Xbox.
Todd added that Microsoft was instrumental in the game's development process, as many of its engineers contributed to its creation. There's currently no specific release date for Starfield, but several sources have suggested it will launch early next year.
the game will be Bethesda's first entirely new IP in 25 years. Many thought the developer's next title would be like The Elder Scrolls or the Fallout series, but its events are only set in space.
Since fantasy games are something Todd Howard and company are familiar with, it can be difficult to separate the company's previous work from this upcoming release. XBOX Studios head Matt Booty insisted that the game will be more than just a remake of the developer's past work.
Do you agree with the opinion about the PlayStation 5 and not releasing the game on it…?
