Last quarter was the best quarter yet for Sony and its PS5 platform. This isn't just my feeling, but it seems like things are getting much better, which is why the company is marketing its platform and holding small events in branched regions around the world. It looks like the success will continue for a while.
According to rumors from Insider-Gaming, Sony is expecting a big increase in console sales for the third quarter of fiscal year 2023. Internal forecasts, according to the source, indicate that Sony expects its lowest month in August 2023, when 1.5 million PS5s will be sold. While the company expects to sell 4.8 million devices in November 2023 to reach a total of 10 million devices in the quarter.
The marketing of the device is not only one of the main reasons for the increase in sales figures, but the numbers will largely come back to the new model of the PlayStation 5, which will feature a removable and installable disc drive, which will arrive in September, specifically in 2023, and is expected to sell 18 million copies during the fiscal year 2023. Production will begin according to the source is in April of this year and for some time, either in the summer or before that, we will see an official announcement of the device.
Sony has many obstacles ahead, but it seems that the shortage problems are not a big obstacle now in front of the company, and this is the most important thing to manufacture PS5 devices and produce a lot to surpass the older brother PS2, which sold 155 million copies.
Sony recently reported a record number of sales that doubled to reach more than 98% from the previous quarter, while setting a target of selling 33 million units during the next fiscal year.
Of course, as a prelude to this grand goal, Sony has recently started a major marketing campaign aimed at promoting the PS5 in a big way. One such event was in Dubai recently, where we hosted VGA4A and were able to conduct an interview with the vice president of PlayStation for the region, which you can check out here.
There was also the opportunity to try out the PSVR2 headset, which will be released in a few days, and you can see our impressions after the experiment here.
