A source claims that Sony postponed the PlayStation Showcase due to Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
The PlayStation Showcase event is known for the power of the announcements that Sony shares through it, and therefore, many sources have suggested its return with another version this year, based on many of the theories and evidence that we discussed in a detailed article that you can see here.
One of the sources on Twitter is Millie A She claimed that Microsoft's acquisition of Activision and its recent repercussions caused Sony to postpone the aforementioned event, as, according to the source, it was scheduled to take place on the 20th of this month, to be announced on the 11th of the same month, a date that passed.
The source shared with us more information about which titles were scheduled to appear at the event, the new Silent Hill game, as well as developer Kojima's new project, in addition to reviewing many videos of the company's previously announced titles.
It's worth noting that last year's edition of the event was released in September, meaning it's been over a year since it was held, so it's possible this rumor is true given the current circumstances, and Sony hasn't spoken about it yet.
Perhaps the reason for the delay is that Sony does not want to put itself in an awkward situation because it will reveal several titles, most of them exclusive to PlayStation platforms, which could have a negative impact on the position of the British Competition and Markets Regulatory Authority (CMA) in support of it.
Regarding Microsoft's acquisition of Activision, according to a report from Playstationlifestyle, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) was not convinced by what Microsoft said earlier this month when it announced that it would keep the Call of Duty game available on PlayStation platforms.
Instead, the CMA found “the potential for Microsoft to block or weaken Activision content, including popular games like CoD on other home platforms or subscription gaming services, more details can be found here.”
