Silent Hill 2 Remake is inspired by Resident Evil 2.

Bloober Team was tasked with developing Silent Hill 2 Remake with great responsibility due to the popularity of the original game released in 2001. The title is one of the greatest survival horror games ever made.
The remake promises a lot for several reasons, the most important of which is the reputation of the developer studio, which has led some to compare its work to the Resident Evil remake in its second part. In fact, here is the developer confirming that Silent Hill 2 Remake is indeed inspired by the Resident Evil 2 remake.
Producer Maciej Głomb gave an interview to GamingBolt. He was asked if Konami and Bloober Studio looked to the RE2 remake as a source of inspiration. Maciej's answer came emphatically after he spoke about the remake's resounding success and how it is considered a standard for copying remakes, and that the Blubber team had similar goals with the Silent Hill 2 remake. He continued:
I can't speak for Konami. But when it comes to Team Bloober, I certainly do. The Resident Evil and Silent Hill series have long been seen by many as competing allies.
We are aware of the huge success of the Resident Evil 2 remake. We know that the game is a benchmark for how to relaunch a game after a long hiatus. Our priority has always been to create a game that will appeal to our players and we will use all means available to us to achieve this.
We expected Resident Evil 2 Remake to be the benchmark for big developers who are already dreaming of remaking their games. And to this point, the amount of incredible detail we’ve seen using the RE Engine is still incredible.
Previous reports have confirmed that several yet-to-be-announced Silent Hill titles are in development. This news coincides with statements from Konami through one of its representatives when it said that this year is the company's long-awaited return.
