The Xbox Series
According to what was published in the magazine VGChartz Today, sales of the Xbox series are a good number, but compared to sales of the previous generation, sales of Xbox One in the same period totaled 32.2 million units.
There's a big sales gap between the two platforms, but what about the competing platform, the PlayStation 5? Sony recently revealed that sales of the device reached 59 million units, which is comparable to the sales of the Xbox Series.
Microsoft doesn't disclose sales figures for its home devices, and these statistics come to us from third-party companies, but they can be largely reliable.
Recently, rumors have surfaced that Microsoft may abandon the Xbox as its primary platform and instead produce it primarily as a system that third-party companies can build and produce their own home consoles based on the same operating system.
In return, Microsoft will expand its efforts to produce major games and publish them as a third-party company on other home platforms. The company will also focus on its Game Pass service as its primary platform, ensuring that major titles from its studios are released from day one, thus expanding its fan base.
Microsoft's moves come as Sony seeks to expand the reach of original games from its studios by publishing them on the PC platform. Previously, the company confirmed that live service games from PlayStation Studios will launch on PC alongside PlayStation platforms from day one. However, this will not apply to major single-player story games, which will be available only on PlayStation platforms.
