SEGA has confirmed that the Crazy Taxi reboot will not be an ordinary project, but rather a large budget has been allocated to focus on it as it is a popular project among gamers, which makes it AAA.
According to a new report from the Japan Times, an interview was conducted with SEGA's Sapporo studio, which is working on the upcoming Crazy Taxi reboot. Takaya Segawa The studio manager, who in turn confirmed that they are working on several projects.
Sapporo Team was founded by SEGA in 2021 to bring beloved titles to remakes or reboots. Here's what the studio head had to say:
"We're responsible for titles like Phantasy Star 2, Genesis, and others, collaborating with our affiliated studios in and outside of Tokyo. Our most ambitious project is the Crazy Taxi robot, which is an original title for the company, and we intend to work on projects independently in the future."
At the last Game Awards ceremony, SEGA announced that it is working on several titles as part of a plan to bring its strongest titles back to the scene, including:
- Jet Set radio play.
- Streets of Fury game.
- Golden Axe Game.
- Shinobi game and others.
The original Crazy Taxi was hugely successful in the 1990s when it was released as an arcade game, and even more so when it was released in the early 2000s on the Dreamcast, becoming the third best-selling game in the United States at that time.
