It seems that Santa Monica Studio and Sony are starting to think about developing a possible sequel to God of War Ragnarok. Considering that, according to a job posting, the new game in the series may be in the very early stages of development.
Valkyrie Entertainment, which helped Santa Monica studio develop the God of War series, has posted a new job opening. The studio is looking for a mid-level environment designer to help them develop multiple AAA projects and, as stated, “the next chapter in the GoW series.”
It may seem too early to think about a new part of the series, since the last one was released almost two months ago. But in the gaming industry there really is no place to rest, as games are taking a long time in the creation and development processes.
The announcement may refer to an old tip, so this news should be considered as a rumor until confirmed. On the other hand, the announcement says that the studio is working on developing projects for other platforms, such as smartphones and more.
The end of Ragnarok has narrowed the field a bit for a new installment set in Scandinavian times, so if we're going to see Kratos again, we'll likely see him in a different civilization. While Loki or Atreus, if he gets his own standalone role, has plenty waiting for him in Scandinavian times, like trying to rally the giants and more.
Finally, if we want to get an official confirmation from Santa Monica, we'll have to wait a long time because they don't announce their new projects until a year or more before they're released. Anyway, what are your expectations?
