Two months ago, Ubisoft announced a set of titles in the Assassin's Creed series, one of which is Assassin's Creed Red. This particular project will be set in Japan, but multiple sources say there are development issues.
In previous news, we talked about the existence of sources that confirmed that the next game Assassin's Creed Mirage will be released in August 2023. Ubisoft also confirmed that the next parts of the series, namely Project Hexe and Assassin's Creed Red, will not be released anytime soon.
According to a report published by Insider Gaming through its editor Tom Henderson, in which the latter said that the series' Project Red, developed by Ubisoft Quebec, is facing development issues behind the scenes, including a number of departures from the studio (due in part to widespread allegations of abuse).
Meanwhile, Henderson claims that another Project Hexe developed by Ubisoft Montreal is progressing extremely well in the proof-of-concept stages. It could be on the verge of starting full production soon.
Previous leaks have claimed that Project Red, which is located in Japan, is targeting a 2024 release. While Project Hexe is initially aiming for a 2026 release. With RED's development issues, there's a possibility that the game could end up being delayed to 2025 or, in the worst case scenario, canceled.
So far, Ubisoft has not commented on the matter, so stay tuned if you find any news.
