Destiny 2 Review: Lightfall… An Unsatisfying Expansion For Fans

In recent years, Destiny 2 has had significant expansions that have contributed greatly to the success of the title. Destiny 2: Lightfall is the penultimate expansion in the Light vs. Light saga. Darkness.
Before the release of the expansion, there was a lot of excitement in the “Destiny” community due to the changes seen in the pre-release shows, which, according to expectations, announce us in the game Destiny 3.
In fact, the expansion brings a lot of very good things in terms of gameplay itself. From subclasses that depend on the energies of darkness or as it is known as Drakness, to which you will adapt, accompanied by important changes in the style of play and new areas. Let's list our most important points in the review.
Feeling weird is the goal of expansion events
Your role as a Guardian in Destiny 2: Lightfall is to attack a ship and before leaving, you must quickly self-destruct the ship. During this mission, I come face to face with a new enemy, the Tormentor. This enemy is able to grab me and restrict my movements and was suppressing all my abilities, this creature that the title is witnessing for the first time was rendered in the necessary way that I really liked because I was surprised at how all this terror could be found inside it.
Early on in the story and throughout my experience with the game, every Tormentor felt like something of a scare. The developer balanced when each Tormentor will come out so well that I'm not sure when one of them will come out.
As we progressed through the events of Lightfall, I saw that creating a sense of eeriness for players was the goal of these events with these new locations that you had to explore in order to survive. There is a lot of story set in the world, some explained and some not, as Destiny has always been about storytelling and worldbuilding with complex mythology and information.
Good gameplay.. lack of content
Great to see great gameplay after 6 years, as good as the balance between shooting, melee and abilities I have is still very tight and that's what I'm used to seeing in Destiny 2, none of this can hide that this is a six year old game because Destiny 2: Unfortunately Lightfall has the same problem that The Witch Queen had, which is the lack of really new content Strand, Neomuna and Tormentor .. yes, that's it.
The gameplay for this content didn't make me feel anything new that was worth waiting for, fighting against the Vex and Cabal that have appeared since the first part in 2014 makes me feel good about this lack. The good thing about the gameplay is that you can create loadouts like weapons, armor and items that I can change at any time without having to spend a lot of time. The Destiny title desperately wants players to spend time playing and, most importantly, freely.
Another frustrating thing I’d like to address is that the game pitted me against enemies that were five to 20 levels above me. It’s a logical way to keep experienced players from reaching the higher levels too quickly. But it also meant that I would be stuck at my level for weeks or months. It’s hard to capitalize on your strengths when the enemy is incredibly strong and unreasonable in many of the game’s activities.
Positives
- The usual cool gameplay we know
- New locations and objects that may seem strange but are good for the player
- Freedom to configure your equipment
- Good balance between skills and shooting
- enemy of The new Tormentor is an excellent addition
Negatives
- Disparity between player level and some enemies' level
- Lack of content in general
- The story isn't the strongest compared to the rest of the expansion's elements.
- Difficulty leveling up due to enemies
- A Rough Start to the End of Destiny 2
good – 6.5
6.5
good
An unwelcome expansion for the end of the title… There are noticeable bugs from the last expansion still in Destiny 2: Lightfall. I won't deny the good gameplay we're used to alongside the enemies, but I hope the last expansion is a great compensation for Lightfall.
