Jim Ryan

He is the current head of Sony International Studios and the PlayStation brand. He has held this position since 2019 (after Shawn Layden stepped down). Jim is responsible for making the company's economic and financial decisions solely within the gaming division. For example, he was the one who announced the recent price increase for PlayStation 5 devices. One of his roles is also to monitor and represent the Sony brand, which is why we see him as a key figure in Microsoft's acquisition of Activision.

Furthermore, he is a major English businessman and currently runs all of Sony's game studios across all branches worldwide.

Hermann Hulst

Herman, who heads the "Development Studios for the PlayStation" brand, is Dutch and co-founded Guerrilla Games, developer of the Horizon series. His responsibilities include scouting studios for acquisitions or mergers, overseeing game development work, and more.

So Hermann is the head of PlayStation Studios, while Jim Ryan is the head of the entire PlayStation brand and Sony's gaming division.

Shawn Layden

Regarding Sean Layden, the former head of Sony Studios and the PlayStation brand was "Ryan's current role." He stepped down in 2019, but his responsibilities were related to the board of directors and finance department.
