Events have been escalating recently between Sony and Microsoft due to the latter's attempt to acquire Activision. But it seems that the Japanese giant has started to take a hard stance towards the company that will be acquired, which is Activision.
We previously learned that Microsoft expected the UK Competition and Antitrust Authority to oppose the deal. After the European Union issued its report warning about the deal being concluded this week, the warning is aimed squarely at the deal with Activision Blizzard. Where it has become natural for the mood to sour between video game giants Sony and Microsoft.
The dispute has escalated between the two parties, and today Activision president Bobby Kotick revealed that the Japanese giant is not responding to his calls and rejects any discussion about the future of Call of Duty and new opportunities for cooperation.
Bobby gave an interview to Canal Fox English to talk about the progress of the deal and its effects on the sector. He praised Sony's good relationship with Activision, but was surprised by the latter's reaction. Here are the most prominent statements he made to the channel:
One of the things that surprised us is that this is the time when we usually talk together about the future and new partnership opportunities, and unfortunately they don't answer our calls (i.e. Sony).
The organizers have no experience in the video game industry, so I don't know if we are really as valuable as we are portrayed by regulators.
As a reminder, many statistics indicate that a large number of Call of Duty players will buy the PlayStation 5 for it. As the gaming community is not only looking for exclusive content, but also the best hardware to play their favorite games. Even the most famous unofficial accounts covering the game's news show that the majority of Call of Duty players prefer the PS5 to play.
