God of War Ragnarok is still on players' minds even a month after its release. Today, the development team reveals to us one of the secrets that the gaming community needs to know, and that's why Kratos is still alive.

The Santa Monica development team was interviewed by The Washington Post via Eric Williams' engine. Where the latter was asked about the reason that led them to keep the character of Kratos in the game God of War Ragnarok and not kill him. The director's answer was that the idea of keeping the character alive is a bigger idea that depends entirely on telling the story.

🚨 Burn Notice 🚨

In the game's story, specifically in one of the passages, Atreus meets another character, as the two discuss Kratos' death and Atreus' survival to serve Odin. This ignorance of players believes that Kratos will inevitably die in the game, but the director said:

Oh no, we didn't think about killing Kratos for a lot of reasons. The story we wanted to tell was this idea of this father-son unit coming together. And then it becomes strong enough that they know each other and know that they've become better. And that if you were to separate them, you'd still feel like they'd be okay.

The story of the series has always been based on Kratos and Atreus, although it is difficult for some to accept the presence of companions with Kratos. We have seen during the journey of both characters their exposure to many difficult and epic situations. We have also seen their emotional and touching moments that have entered the hearts of the players.

The game is currently available on PlayStation platforms for both previous and current generations, and is the latest exclusive to launch on PS4 devices. What do you think of the development team’s decision to keep Kratos alive after all these epic battles? We look forward to hearing from you in the comments section below.
