After leaks about the arrival of PSVR 2 glasses on PC, we can officially say that we are one step away from being able to use virtual reality glasses with computers according to today's official revelation.

On the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that support for the upcoming PSVR 2 for PC will be available on August 7. Steam is the official platform that supports the headset with its huge library of exclusive Virtual Console games, including Half Life Alyx, Fallout 4 VR and other titles, but this support is stipulated by a special Atmosphere adapter sold separately.

This adapter will be available for $60 USD, and will require a Display Port cable, which can also be purchased separately. Setting up the headset at this point will be easy. All you need to do is connect your PlayStation VR2 to your computer using the new PS VR2 adapter and a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. After that, you'll need to download the PlayStation VR2 app and the SteamVR app from Steam.

Advantages of having glasses on your PC

  • Access to a large library of virtual reality games on PC.
  • Constant offers and good free games on the platform.
  • Access to platform-exclusive titles including Half Life and Fallout.
  • Ease of connecting PSVR2 glasses compared to most PC glasses.

Missing features from PSVR 2 headsets on PC

  • 3D audio will not be available.
  • Visual features like HDR and high-definition technologies will not be available in the same way on PS5.
  • Features eye tracking, field of view, and haptic feedback on controllers.

Despite the missing features, it's now an attractive option for many, and it's expected that we'll see some exclusives for the headset on the Steam platform in conjunction with the launch and Sony's current approach to releasing its exclusives on PC.
