The Legend of Zelda as a series is no stranger to delays. For as long as anyone can remember, the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been set to release next year. Earlier this year, the Japanese publisher confirmed that a megaton sequel would be released in May 2023, and new developments suggest those plans may be on track.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, giving it an E10+ rating noting “fantasy violence” and “balanced suggestive themes.” The rating has not yet been published on the ESRB website, but the above age rating is now displayed on the game’s online store page.

The rating is important, of course, because ratings usually happen for games as they get closer to release in the near future, which should allay some concerns about another possible game delay. Of course, this is by no means a guarantee, especially when it comes to Nintendo, as well as when it comes to Zelda, but hey... don't rush to judgment because only time will tell.

Earlier this year, the game was also evaluated by the Game Classification and Management Committee (GRAC) in South Korea. If everything goes as it is, the game is set to release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on May 12.
