Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon, who is considered the godfather of the series, has dashed the hopes and hopes of his fans by insisting that nothing was announced during the recently concluded awards ceremony.
Fans of the series around the world were optimistic that developer NetherRealm Studios would show off its next title that it is working on during the global event, which is the most appropriate time to showcase such famous titles, which unfortunately did not happen, but it seems that fans will not have to wait any longer. Not only for its title reveal, but also for the actual launch.
In response to fan inquiries on social media platform Twitter, Ed Boon, creator of the Mortal Kombat and Injustice series, indirectly confirmed that the studio's next game could be released sometime in 2023, which is considered a surprising and at the same time "expected" reveal. Keeping in mind that developer NetherRealm Studios hasn't shared any new announcements in a long time, outside of celebrating our anniversary.
I really shouldn't 23-answer this.

This confirms that the developer's next announcement won't be too far away, as the series creator has confirmed on more than one occasion that we'll likely see an announcement within the next six months. As evidenced by his response to a follower on Twitter.
Likely

While it's still unclear whether developer NetherRealm Studios' next game will be an entirely new title, either a new Injustice game, or more likely a new Mortal Kombat, the studio seems determined to support the game for a long time, as it's set to be the longest supported title from the developer to date. This is in line with what Ed Boon shared. Where MK11 had the longest support, the next title will be even longer.
MK11 support was the longest we've supported a game. The next game should be even longer.

In any case, the series creator previously allowed players to ask what they wanted and promised a full answer, one of which cut through the doubt with certainty and asked directly about the next project from the Neather Realm studio. The director's answer was very frank, saying that it could be Mortal Kombat 12 or Injustice 3. But at the same time, he does not deny the existence of a different project.
