The Witcher co-op project is back in development!

Developer CD Project RED has announced to its investors about its financial situation, mentioning the money the developer has spent so far during the development process of one of its most important projects. I mean, of course, the co-op The Witcher, which is currently being called Sirius Project.

So far, the value of development expenses for Project Sirius has totaled around 33.4 million Polish zlotys in 2022, with another 9.5 million Polish zlotys during the first two months of 2023. It should be noted that these figures are in Polish local currency because the developer is of Polish origin, which is approximately equivalent to 2.2 million US dollars.

In its statement, CD Projekt RED hints at some of the decisions, but says that “work is ongoing to formulate a new framework for this project.” That part about a “new framework” seems to be the most surprising, as it hints at the possibility of CD Projekt RED relaunching the development process for Project Sirius, or at least redefining its ideas.

Project Sirius is one of several Witcher projects announced so far that have not been revealed, all announced at once. In addition to a new title in the series in development, there is a project that is a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 codenamed Orion.

It is assumed that CD Projekt RED will be able to launch all these projects smoothly and without problems within the internally proposed schedule, but when considering the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, even though the studio has been working on it for almost 10 years!
