Remedy previously confirmed that Alan Wake 2 was in full production, and the studio said in October that the game was on track for a 2023 release. And now the studio is back to confirm the same information about the game releasing this year.
In a recent quarterly financial report, the developer reiterated the same statements, saying that the game will be ready for release in 2023. The studio went on to say:
“Alan Wake 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 2010 psychological thriller published by Epic Games. The game is currently in full production and will be ready for its long-awaited release in 2023..”
Earlier this year, the developer said the game was fully playable from start to finish behind the scenes. It will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Director and head of veteran studio Remedy, Sam Lake, recently shared a new tweet with us through his official social media account, in which he shows a large number of letters appearing on top of each other, which he confirmed is only a small part of the game's text or scenario. This confirms the accuracy of the developer's statements that this title will be the largest project for the development team.
More about Alan Wake 2
- The game will retain the basic gameplay textures, such as shooting with the camera, which is confirmed to be from a third-person perspective.
- Voice actor returns Matthew Puretta Alan Wake's voice actor in the new role, alongside talented actress Elka Fili.
- The game will be a “new kind of game” that steers the player away from the horror side as much as possible. This fits perfectly with her description of her story as brutal and monumental.
- The game will radically transform from the psychological horror it presented in the first part to become a survival horror game.
The first part was dark, but was based on action elements with exciting touches of psychological horror, while the second part, Alan Wake 2, will focus on the whole horror style, a genre that Remedy Studio is not used to working with any of its previously released titles.
