The famous PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 is now capable of playing online games!

The team behind one of the most popular emulators for the PlayStation 3 platform has shared a new video showcasing a number of PS3 games with online modes. According to the team, GalCiv has been working hard to improve the emulator, allowing many PS3 games to be played online.
The cool thing here is that the RPCS3 emulator also supports adding friends to your RPCN account and inviting them to matches. This is similar to how PSN accounts work on any PS3 console, where some games also have active leaderboards and rankings.
Please note that not all PS3 games currently support online play. You can check the emulator's online play compatibility list here. This list contains all compatible games that can be played online right now. Some games require a dedicated server to be created by the community in order to play online.
Being able to play PS3 games online on PC through this emulator is an incredible achievement. Some of the PS3 games that currently support multiplayer in the engine include SoulCalibur V, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD, Demon's Souls, and Blur, so we hope the team continues to work on that.
Over the past few years, GalCiv has been working hard to improve RPCN, allowing many more PS3 games to be played online.
You can even add friends to your RPCN account and invite them to online matches just like you would on PSN with a real PS3! https://t.co/NaLNhn8dBM-RPCS3 (@rpcs3) February 2, 2024
PlayStation 3 emulator performance has improved
Last August, the RPCS3 emulator team dedicated to running PS3 games showed off some screenshots that give us a brief glimpse of the performance benefits offered by the latest update.
It is worth noting that last year's version of the RPCS3 emulator was able to run God of War III at a rate of 84 frames per second, an impressive number on the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X card and using the same resources, but with the release of the new RPCS3 emulator this month, and the game ran at over 100 fps according to screenshots taken by the development team. This shows that the emulator will, over time, become better than the original platform in every aspect, not at the graphical level.
