Kratos' fate in God of War Ragnarok's death scene was different

New details about God of War Ragnarok have been revealed, which may be good for some. But what many didn't know is that, in the initial version of the game, Kratos' fate in his fight against "Thor" was death.
The novelist was interviewed Matt Sophos On the MinnMax podcast to talk about his work on the game, he revealed new details about Kratos' fate.
According to Sophos, this first version of the story was scrapped because it felt repetitive and lacked the objectivity the team was looking for. The author and the studio in general wanted the story to be about sacrifice and change. Whereas Norse mythology revolves around destiny and prophecy, nothing can stand in the way of Kratos, not even Thor himself, if he is ready to change.
If you met Thor at the beginning of God of War Ragnarok, you'll know that he sort of kills Kratos and brings him back to life instantly in one of the coolest and most shocking scenes in the game. Sophos says that this wasn't a reference to the team's previous intention to have the character actually die at this point. It's also revealed that the original idea would have been executed very differently, with Kratos dying and his son Atreus pulling him out of Hell and bringing him back to life. But in the end, the developer decided that it was a moment that every gamer and fan of the series should enjoy.
There was a plot outline we came up with early on, which we took to director Eric Williams, where Kratos dies in a fight with Thor early in the game.
The game's director refused to implement the idea, although he did not abandon the idea of Kratos' death, but made his return to life happen at the same moment, while the idea of his son Atreus trying to catch him out of Hell was removed.
This canceled ending reminds us of the game The Last of Us Part 2, in which we lost the hero of the game, Joel, from the first hours of the beginning of the adventure, and it seems that the developers of Santa Monica Studio wanted to quote the idea again to apply it in a slightly different way.!!
God of War Ragnarok has become the best-selling PlayStation exclusive. In its first week, it sold more than 5 million copies on just two platforms, the PlayStation 5 and 4.
