The development team at Criterion has revealed the main reason why NFS Unbound was not released on previous-generation devices. It was their intention to provide the best possible gaming experience on current-generation hardware.

NFS Unbound is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. As of now, many reviews and ratings of the game have not been released due to the delay in its codes reaching websites and content creators.

We wanted to provide the best experience possible and as such we decided to develop the game only for current generation devices.

When you run the game in 4K, 60fps, HDR support, you will have a completely different racing game. Add to that the new physics system, the new control and handling system, new effects and new graphics.

I feel like anyone who plays the game will understand this immediately.

Kieran eventually made it clear that he would prefer the game to be released on all available platforms, not just the previous generation consoles. But the development team aimed to deliver the best racing game possible, exploring the capabilities of the new platforms.

Need for Speed ​​​​​​Unbound has been in development since at least 2020 and offers many of the elements that fans have coveted over the years. In addition to the heavy focus on street racing, the game includes an offline single-player mode and cross-play (but not cross-progression).

It also continues to focus on the cars themselves, meaning the cockpit perspective will be eliminated, with cameras added to the hood and bumper.
