A new spin-off of the Bayonetta series from PlatinumGames was recently announced at the Game Awards, titled Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. This game is the prequel to the entire series.

With the release of the fourth game in the series, fans are wondering how far this series can go, which was answered by the game's director Hideki Kamiya In an interview with IGN, he confirmed that the series could last forever, as he believes that creators should have their own beliefs and make games that they want, not what the majority of players want. He continued by saying:

Taking Bayonetta as an example, while I have a framework in mind where the story will progress into the future, players can only judge what story they have at the moment.

They say things like the show will end because the creators don't like it anymore. I want people to know that's clearly not the case. I love Bayonetta more than anyone else. How can you not love Cereza and all the other characters I've cared for all this time?

When the director was asked if this meant he wanted to develop more titles for the series in the future, he hinted at the possibility of working on another 9 titles of the game and continued:

Personally, I can't imagine the Bayonetta series ending. I want to make Bayonetta 4 and Bayonetta 5 and I intend to release them to the company. We often talk internally about how a game is made. I want Bayonetta fans to believe me when I say that I would never do anything that would betray the player.

However, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is set to release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on March 17. The last major game in the series, Bayonetta 3, was released on the Nintendo Switch in October.
