Super Smash Bros. and Kirby creator announces semi-retirement

Creator Masahiro Sakurai, who worked on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Kirby as a designer and director. He posts clips on his YouTube channel where he talks about his life after semi-retirement. He recently gave an interview to talk about his career, his future, and his life in general.

In the interview, Sakurai confirmed that he is semi-retired, as the 52-year-old game designer and director felt that if he was always in an active game development process, his life would be over before he realized the end of the project.

The veteran creator revealed more of his work that he loves on his YouTube channel 'Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games', which he started about four months ago. He's the godfather behind titles like Kid Icarus: Uprising and was previously at studio HAL Laboratory and is now keeping busy in his semi-retirement, he says.

Thankfully, Masahiro Sakurai is happy with the feedback, which has been positive with likes and motivational comments. Masahiro documents his vast experience in the industry with different aspects of the profession, making his channel a treasure trove for all newcomers. The veteran developer said in the interview that he believes working on Super Smash Bros. is important because it includes so many different characters and concepts from the industry, and said he was very happy to be working on the series.

In retirement, Masahiro also finds time to read manga, of which he has over 6,000 volumes on his computer, as well as play video games! He recently completed Sonic Frontiers, Bayonetta 3, and God of War Ragnarok.
