After months of speculation and anticipation, the new Horizon Forbidden West expansion, Burning Shores, has finally been announced. Its events will take place in the city of Los Angeles, which has been destroyed by time and the epidemic.
Burning Shores was officially revealed during the 2022 edition of the Game of the Year Awards, which was revealed the day before yesterday.
Everyone knows that Horizon Forbidden West was released for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, however, the new addition that will complete the events of the last part of the story is scheduled to be released only on the current generation PS5. So, does this mean the real beginning of the discontinuation of support on the PS4 platform?
According to a recent blog post from Guerrilla Games, the Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores expansion will be released exclusively on PS5 on April 19, 2023. As the blog says:
The reason for this decision is due to the size and scope of the expansion's content, which allows players to fully explore the city of Los Angeles, even if it is now in ruins according to the game's narrative. Scuba diving and high-altitude flying are options for exploration, and there are also several new machine threats lurking in the shadows of the city, so players will have to use all of their experience and terrain traversal knowledge to defeat them.
Fans of the series who own high-end devices will be very disappointed with this unexpected decision. Especially since the full game was released on their devices and did not encounter many issues in terms of performance or graphics.
