Our impression after trying out the PlayStation VR2, we are very impressed with the experience.

The VGA4A team had the chance to try out the next generation PlayStation VR2 headset after receiving a special invitation from PlayStation Saudi Arabia and PlayStation Middle East in Dubai.

Through this special invitation, we were able to get to know the new generation PlayStation glasses up close and how to use them, as well as the experience of some games, with emphasis on the game Horizon Call of the Mountain, which dazzled us, and we will talk about it during this report.

Our first experience with PlayStation VR2

At first, what caught our attention when using the PlayStation VR2 glasses for the first time was their lightness, as well as the abandonment of many wires that connect it to the PlayStation 5, since there will only be a long wire connecting the glasses to the device to facilitate use and movement during the game.

Furthermore, what was notable was the elimination of the presence of a built-in camera, as was the case with the previous generation, as it will not be necessary to install a camera on the TV to track the movement of the head or hands, and this is thanks to the advanced technologies that are now integrated into the new unit, the Sense control unit, which will follow the movement of the hand and fingers.

When wearing the PlayStation VR2 glasses, there will be keys to adjust the stability of the unit on the user's head. There will be a rotary switch on the back, which can adjust the stability of the glasses collar on the head firmly to prevent slipping during gameplay and vigorous movements.

Additionally, there will be two buttons on the right and left of the glasses, and these buttons will work to adjust the distance and proximity of the glasses to the user's eye in order to provide the best position for clear vision.

One of the issues we encountered when using the glasses was adjusting the field of view by the distance of the glasses from the eye, as we sometimes had to manually adjust them to improve our vision. This may have been a result of not calibrating them properly, as this was our first experience with them.

In addition, another thing that dazzled us during the experiment was the Sense accessory console, which at first surprised us with its light weight, and at the beginning of the game it very accurately monitored the movement of the hand and fingers, which is unimaginable without trying it yourself.

The accuracy of detecting the movement of my fingers was amazing, even during gameplay, the interactive movement of my hand within the game matched completely and very accurately the movement of my hand during gameplay, even those spontaneous movements that you might make without expectation. For example, when you open your hand to hold an object, you see the same movement and the same details happening on the screen in front of you.

One of the things that may take you a little longer to get used to is the layout of the four running buttons, where you will find that the two buttons are a circle and an X on the right arm, and two buttons are a triangle and a square. on the left arm. But this problem will help the glasses to overcome it, as it shows on the screen in front of you the button you need to press through a form that appears in front of you, which makes it easier to find the correct button faster.

From our experience, the precision of the movement and its synchronization between the hand and the game was very accurate and fast, while the movement of the fingers when climbing and grabbing onto edges or carrying objects was completely identical to the movement that the person performs in reality, which is really amazing.

One of the things that can be annoying for some when first experiencing the PlayStation VR2 headset is the movement, as you may feel dizzy at first or like you're flying in the air when trying to climb to the top, but we overcame this problem by sitting in a chair where the sensation was better.

In case you want to exit the game perspective to examine the area around you in your room, just press the button and a special camera built into the PlayStation VR2 glasses will monitor the room and the surrounding area, and by pressing the same button again, you will return to the game and complete it.

But here we have a small comment about the headset that will come with the device, as at first glance it seems to be cheap and of inferior quality, and that is what we have already confirmed when using it in the game. However, Sony offers the possibility of using external headphones that can be connected to the PlayStation 5 or directly to the glasses.

Also, don't forget that the size and position of the PlayStation VR2 glasses are adapted to allow you to use the PS5 Puls headset, which can offer better sound quality and more precision and distribution.

The game was originally designed for PlayStation VR2 headsets, which means that many movements and play styles have been employed to be compatible with the new console's capabilities. This is honestly what surprised us, especially when using a bow and shooting arrows, where you can do it as if you were using a real bow. Both by dragging and aiming, while the R2 button can be used to shoot.

The layout of the R2, R1, L2 and L1 buttons can take some time to master, especially with the new layout for them, as you can see in the image below. Also climbing on ropes and ledges, although sometimes it will make you feel exhausted and tired, will make you feel fun because of the precision of coordination between your realistic movement and your movement within the game.
