Microsoft announces a paid monthly subscription for Minecraft

Microsoft has launched a monthly subscription service for the popular game Minecraft, which will be called Marketplace Pass, and the subscription cost will be US$$ 3.99 per month.

This subscription will allow its owners to access a library of over 150 different content packs from the Minecraft Marketplace, which are updated every month.

This does not mean that Minecraft players will need to pay a Marketplace Pass subscription to continue playing as normal, but it will be intended for those who want to experience the Marketplace's differentiated content.

The Marketplace serves as a hub for creator-made content for Minecraft, such as cosmetic packs, multiple worlds, texture packs, and other downloadable content. Microsoft will select 150 or so of the best to include in the Marketplace Pass, and will also give players a new set of character customization items each month.

Yesterday, Minecraft developer Team Majong warned players not to update the game using the official Xbox app on PC as it could result in players' worlds being deleted.

A support page for the game now opens on Microsoft's website with a real warning to PC players, as stated in the message that appears to players when visiting the site:

“Do not download the latest Minecraft update through the Xbox app on PC. Doing so could result in you losing your worlds.”

The team has promised a radical overhaul soon, but now tell us, will you subscribe to the new game service?
