Nintendo has announced Metroid Prime Remastered, which is available today on the Nintendo Switch online store. Metroid Prime Enhanced Edition doesn’t include any new content. But the beauty of it is that it features improved visuals and a variety of control options, depending on the player’s preference. For all the fans of physical versions of games… don’t worry because it’s coming out on February 22.
This announcement follows persistent rumors that Nintendo will reveal Metroid Prime Remastered soon, while Nintendo itself has not made any announcements to highlight the existing features and developments for Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
The remaster seems to mean nothing more than a developer sending a love letter to fans of the title and a sign of patience with the fourth installment in the series. The first Metroid Prime was released on the GameCube in 2002. Despite featuring a first-person perspective for the first time in the Metroid franchise, the core gameplay of the Metroid Prime title is more like a 2D game.
Metroid Prime 4's development now seems to be going through some very turbulent stages, as developer Retro Studios rebuilt the game four years ago. We don't know any details about it, but given that the next Zelda will be the last major title for the platform, I expect the next installment to be one of the inaugural games of the new generation. Tell us your expectations for the upcoming sequel and when you expect to see it released.
