Krauser's knife fight will be different in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Capcom has confirmed that the new version of Resident Evil 4 won't change the game's atmosphere, but will retain the same classic spirit we love. That's not to say it won't remain a very different experience from the original we first witnessed in 2005.

Significant changes to the story and gameplay have been confirmed, including new mechanics and, most importantly, the complete removal of the game's QTE system (a system in which the player responds quickly by pressing certain buttons that appear on the screen). But the removal of this mechanism makes us think of Leon and Krauser fighting, or as we know him as Sawman. The fight was one of the best in the original version, and Leon fights with a knife.

The Krauser boss saw protagonist Leon fight in a long and intense knife fight choreographed entirely with the QTE system. During Game Informer's ongoing coverage, director Yasuhiro Ampo explained that the idea for the parry-knife mechanic originated when the development team was considering how to design Krauser's combat in the remake without the use of QTEs. Once this was achieved, the development team decided to implement this new mechanic throughout the game.

Once the mechanism is applied to deviate, I found myself wanting to avoid the original version. I felt like things were getting really interesting.

While some players will regret the lack of QTE in the Resident Evil 4 remake, given how prominent it was in the original game, there's no doubt that this battle will be very exciting with a completely new system that will attract a new audience. Resident Evil 4 will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC on March 24th.
