Many may not know that the GDC Game Developers Conference is happening right now, and among the attendees was Epic, which showed off the power of its new Unreal Engine 5 by reviewing some games that use the engine, including Lords of the Fallen for new generation devices.
The video above showcases the power of Epic's new engine and HEXWORKS' ability to harness its capabilities in its next project. Here, we'll see the precision of high-quality design down to the smallest detail, from the delicate motifs on the character's belt to the physics system that delivers unprecedented realism in the characters' primary and secondary movement systems.
The video also sheds light on the precise lighting technique that uses reflections and shadows, as well as tracking radiation in an unimaginable way to simulate absolute realism.
What is Lords of the Fallen?
Lords of the Fallen is developed primarily for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. In the video above, the player appears as one of the legendary Dark Crusaders, who will undertake a quest to overthrow a demon named Adyr. The trailer also shows a trip to Skyrest Bridge, one of the locations you'll visit early in the game.
Lords of the Fallen is set more than a thousand years after the events of the original 2014 game and its world is five times larger, CI Games said when the title was announced last August.
The player will be able to travel between two worlds: Axiom, the realm of the living, and Umbral, the realm of the dead. The player will be able to move between the two worlds with ease and fluidity.
Additionally, one of the features of this game is that it will support cooperative play for two players, who will be able to participate in the adventure together when it is released on new generation devices and PC sometime this year 2023.
