As expected, Death Stranding 2 finally appeared at The Game Awards 2022 last night. Where developer Kojima himself was present to announce it after a series of leaks and rumors, but what will her story be like this time..!
Kojima has revealed that he wrote the story for Death Stranding 2 before Covid-19 hit, but ended up rewriting it after experiencing the chaos caused by the global pandemic. Kojima's statement came in response to fans who pointed out uncanny similarities between the themes of his games and events set in the future after their release. He often jokes about how he can predict the future.
The first game came with the concept that humanity will one day depend on delivery to continue their lives. That’s what the game was about and that’s exactly what the Corona epidemic has done, as it has made the entire world dependent on delivery. Here’s what Kojima had to say:
I wrote the story for the sequel before the pandemic, but after the pandemic, I rewrote it from scratch. I also didn't want to predict too much of the future, so I rewrote it.
Aspects of Part One became somewhat real when Covid-19 caused lockdowns around the world. Eerie images of empty roads and buildings made headlines as people turned to delivery services instead of shopping in stores.
The game's release date for DS has not yet been set, but we know that Sony and Guerrilla Games are helping with the development of the game, which will also be released by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
