GTA 3 changed the way Rockstar thought about developing its games

GTA 3, developed by Rockstar North, was released in late 2001 as a timed exclusive on the PlayStation 2 and released a year later for the original PC and Xbox.
If we told you that the third installment of the Rockstar title, GTA 3, represents a turning point in the company's games, the way it designed its games and the model we've seen for many years to this day, would you believe it?
This was answered by Rockstar North's technical director Aaron Garbutt In an interview with him on the Game Informer website, when he discussed the importance of GTA 3 in the studio's future in the gaming industry and its impact on it, and its definition of the standards and artistic direction that the series followed after that, he said:
GTA 3 sets the standard for how games are made. We learned a lot, but most importantly, we learned how difficult it is. The fact that the content exists in this model alongside the open-world systems: open world, police, gangs, and the like.
This creates more complications. I think we learned that we weren't afraid to take a difficult path if we thought the results were worth it. And the approach of systems interacting to create complexity is something we continue to develop.
In any case, if the third installment was to be the cornerstone of what the series has become today, we have high hopes for the next major title, GTA 6, which is expected to be announced in the coming months and with the capabilities of current next-gen devices, the upcoming game is expected to be the second turning point in the future of the Rockstar game series.
This is nothing new after the president of Take Two spoke at the earnings presentation session for the last quarter of the fiscal year, when he said that the next game will be a quantum leap not only in terms of the series, but also in terms of the video game industry as a whole.
We remind our followers that the classic game Grand Theft Auto 3 can be experienced on current devices through the GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition package, which also includes Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
