According to a source, it seems that Bungie will try to bring the Marathon series back with a new direction different from what is known, as the project is in the early stages of development.
The Marathon series was developed by Bungie in the 1990s and was released for Apple Mac computers. The series is set in an advanced distant future, specifically in outer space, where the player plays as a security officer trying to prevent the inhabitants from an alien invasion aboard a ship with the same name.
Insider Gaming claims it has sources who have confirmed that the series is now in development in the Pre-Alpha phase by the Bungie team, where it is expected to be announced at any moment.
It is believed that this project was intended in one of the previous news when we talked about the existence of a title belonging to the studio in development, which will be released within 3 years. If the studio releases its new title, this will be the first project to be released after the Destiny series, which has been supported for almost a decade.
The Marathon series is made up of three main parts and another sub, so the first titles were released in 1994 and were the most successful by nature, reaching 200,000 units sold.
In 2019, the studio's CEO suggested Parsons House In an interview with IGN that they will release a new game by 2025, he continued:
This year, we have a very specific path to make sure we move away from Destiny and have other franchises in the market.
