In a surprising move to empower the creativity of content creators and editors, Epic has launched the Unreal Editor for Fortnite. A new app that allows users to create and build new games within the world of the popular Battle Royale game.
During the Unreal Conference at GDC last night, Epic announced the beta launch of Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), along with the new implementation of Creator Economy 2.0.
A team of creators can use UEFN and some of the other creative tools available in the Fortnite in-game creative toolset and collaborate via personal computers or even home devices to create islands and worlds and test them in real-time within the game.
The company also released 3 ready-made models that were developed through these tools to showcase the extent of possibilities that creators can achieve through the new Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) tools.
Unreal Editor models for Fortnite are ready
- UEFN. Deserted: Domination
- Guardian of the Forest
- The Inner Space
You can check out these models with the new legal review shared last night in the video below.
The game's newly launched Creator Economy 2.0 is all about receiving payments to eligible publishers on islands, based on metrics including popularity and player retention.
Epic said it will put approximately 40% of net revenue from Fortnite's item shop and real-money purchases into the revenue sharing pool and provide it as monthly payments. The following statement was made:
Beginning March 1, 2023, Epic began retaining 40% of this revenue for distribution based on engagement generated by the creative work of qualified Al Jazeera publishers. This will allow Epic to reward creators for their creative work in Fortnite.
Also in conjunction with this, Epic removed the previous Support-A-Creator from the game, and according to the statement, this was done to allow players to focus on having fun during the experience. Players can support their favorite "Creators" by playing the role they played.
It's worth noting that the quality of the new content created using the Unreal Editor for Fortnite showcases the realism of the designs and the professional gameplay system. You can see this in the new video above as we wait to see how creative you are in creating your own in-game island.
