Publisher EA has announced a plan to begin removing several titles in the popular Battlefield series, as well as the game Mirror's Edge, from digital storefronts.

The publisher announced in a statement that, as it approaches 15 years since the release of titles such as Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 1 and 2, and Mirror's Edge, it has decided to completely remove these titles from global digital storefronts.

EA games will be removed

  • Battlefield 1943
  • Bad Company 1
  • Bad Company 2
  • mirror edge

The removal order is not limited to just digital stores, but all digital services related to these games will also be shut down, especially multiplayer servers.

The process of removing the aforementioned games from their showcases will begin on April 28th, while the servers will be closed from December 8th of this year.

With the exception of Battlefield 1943, which is basically a multiplayer-only game, the rest of the games will be playable and offline (offline) only in single-player (story) mode.

In its statement, EA confirmed that with the removal of these titles from the service, more focus will be placed on the Battlefield series to expand and improve the experience.

EA recently announced that DICE will serve as a co-developer on the development of the single-player mode in the next Battlefield game, providing support to Ridgeline Games, a new internal studio led by the co-founder of Halo. Marcus Leto.

It was also previously announced that studio DICE is currently working on a new upcoming online gaming experience for the Battlefield series, details of which have yet to be revealed.
