Mortal Kombat Director Wants to Add Street Fighter's Ryu

After Tekken's demise over the years, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter are now taking over the fighting game scene. With so many collaborations between fighting and non-fighting games, we've yet to see any collaboration between these two giants. But it seems like a new announcement could indicate that dream could be realized in the future.

We all know very well the director of Mortal Kombat, who is the godfather of the series, Ed Boon, who is very flexible on his Twitter page and not on Twitter itself. His flexibility is due to the growing passion for the series, and even when asked about the character he dreams of coming to “Mortal Kombat”. Boon answered honestly and said: “Ryu… the famous hero of the Street Fighter series.”

We really don't know how this will happen and more importantly... when. This cooperation is considered the most difficult in the history of the series, especially since the two titles compete with each other. There are games where we shouldn't see collaboration for more reasons than just passion. But I think if the idea is present at NetherRealm studio, maybe we will see cooperation sooner or later. I want to see Ryo fight Sub Zero and Johnny Cage someday in the future.

Boon stated that there are many candidate characters within the studio to appeal to Mortal Kombat fans. We saw collaborations with DC that gave rise to the character Joker.

In your opinion, dear reader, will the difference in style of “Mortal Kombat” compared to its competitor make this cooperation falter?
