The director of Ghost of Tsushima has expressed his happiness with the success of The Last of Us series. As he stated, he is now more confident in adapting the games and turning them into films after the success of the series.
For several years in a row, adapting games into films or series has been a failure until it has become a kind of curse. But the latest series, The Last of Us, has finally broken that curse and achieved record numbers and results. This will also encourage those responsible for other works and give them the necessary confidence to continue, as the director of the upcoming film Ghost of Tsushima has stated.
To prevent the failure of any product derived from PlayStation exclusives, Sony opened a special department and studio to work on its game films. This contributed greatly to the success of its games, which were turned into a cinematic product, in addition to the participation of those who work on these games in the filming and production of films.
Among Sony's future and exclusive works will be the Ghost of Tsushima movie based on its exclusivity. John Wick director Chad Stahelski will work on it. In one of his recent interviews, the latter said the following:
I hope The Last of Us sheds more light on future video game cinematics. I'm currently working on Rainbow Six and Ghost of Tsushima, both of which are big projects that I really hope come to fruition. But Ghost has an incredible story. It's an anti-samurai film and it has great themes.
We're very interested in that now that Last of Us has pushed the movie business to its limits. Yes, the curse of the video game-turned-movie has been kind of lifted. You just need to give the business some love and attention.
The film is still in production and Sony has not yet announced a release date. Do you think it will be a success?
