God of War Ragnarok is now available for PS4 and PS5. Fans of the series now embark on epic adventures in the world of Nord and explore fate and the truth of the prophecy.

This new part of the game introduces a skill development system that will increase Kratos' power throughout the game. This will definitely make him more capable against several tougher enemies and some very annoying bosses.

Just like in the previous installment, in God of War Ragnarok, you'll use the skill tree to level up Kratos. But a skill tree alone isn't enough to take on the toughest enemies. You'll need more than that, as the weapon skill tree works with a variety of combat moves. But you'll also need to improve the efficiency of those moves by leveling up.

How to increase Kratos' power level in God of War Ragnarok

Combat encounters and quest completion increase experience points, but they aren't the deciding factor in our hero's overall level. Instead, they're the kind of "currency" you'll use to activate a variety of additional moves in your skill tree. They also upgrade special combat abilities like Runic Strikes and Spartan Rage.

The only way to increase Kratos's overall power level is by upgrading his gear and weapons. You can tell by the number in the top-left corner when you open the menu.

As you switch between upgrade items, you'll notice the counter in the left corner rise and fall depending on the available or potential upgrade, or the accessory and items on your armor or weapon. This includes the following equipment:

weapons The items and upgrades you put into it will increase leviathan axe or blades of chaos And even the expandable shield is of a general level rating after upgrading, although armor upgrades only increase its level at a slightly slower rate.

Shield Chest armor, wrist armor, and waist armor will increase in rank when purchased, equipped, and upgraded. Chest armor upgrades must be at the same level as weapon upgrades. Upgrading your wrist and waist armor increases their rank as much as your armor.

Weapon attachments Equipping and upgrading your weapon grips, shields, and accessories will increase their level slightly, but it won't be the same as normal armor and weapons.

Important note

Critical and rare items like relics, rune strikes, and your Spartan Rage abilities do not increase your overall tier rating when you upgrade, as higher tier abilities are locked to your weapon tier, not the other way around.

Even the magic in his Yggdrasil amulet doesn't increase his level rating, though it does increase his stats. Similarly, upgrades purchased for Atreus don't affect Kratos's level.

You'll obtain numerous parts, treasures, and items that will contribute to the development of armor and weapons using Hacksilver, which you'll find in legendary chests hidden throughout most of the game world. This will also be dependent on the overall difficulty of the area where you found it. You'll need many valuable components to upgrade your shield or one of your weapons.

Because game worlds, and some regions specifically, have different difficulty levels, you'll often find the same types of upgrade materials as you explore a specific region. This may allow you to start upgrading multiple armor sets or accessories to switch between.

There will be enemies that are difficult to defeat even if your level is high, so you will need to change your strategy every now and then and expose your enemies' weaknesses, even if you use lower-level armor and accessories.

Over time, your weapon level will improve as you level up, but you'll likely only be able to find the materials to upgrade them by defeating powerful bosses during the main story. Some of them can also be found by exploring side quests.
