Veteran Japanese developer Fumito Ueda's games are unique in their identity and style, and the return of Shadow of the Colossus was a strong testament to how much the community loves this type of quiet game that is fun in its style and story.

Ueda has partnered with several developers to establish the new studio GenDESIGN, and they have already announced that they are working on a new game project, and the first teaser image for the game was shared in 2018.

In an exclusive interview with 4Gamer, Ueda said that he intends to reveal his new project during the next year of 2023. This project, which has been in development for 5 years, has not had any details about it during this period. Although Ueda prefers to spend a lot of time with his games, this time, we believe, is enough for the new project to be at least ready for the show.

Ueda said:

Everyone at genDesign is working hard to finally be able to announce something, so please give us your support.

In an exclusive interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu in 2018, Ueda spoke about some new details about the game, which he described as still in the early stages of development right now, but stressed in the meeting that it will be a large game and not the size of games from an independent developer, describing that the size of the game will match previous games such as Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, and may even surpass them.

Fumito Ueda also confirmed that his next title will be something completely new and not a new installment of one of his known titles, and more details will be revealed in due time, but the game is still in the early stages of development.

We mentioned that GenDesign Studio has now split up and is no longer required to release its games exclusively on PlayStation platforms, so we expect the next title to be dedicated to more than one platform, unless Sony gets ahead of the game and reserves the game to be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 platforms, perhaps.
