Publisher Valve finally announced Counter-Strike 2 last week, with a limited beta launching around the same time.
Due to the great hype that came after the game's announcement and the return of players to prepare for the new part, the title Counter-Strike: Global Offensive achieved a new jump in the number of players yesterday with more than one and a half million players according to SteamDB regulations.
The last major record was 1.3 million active players in April 2020, during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Of course, with the reveal of Counter-Strike 2, many more players may be eager to see why the game is getting a sequel, or at least get in the mood for one this summer.
Counter-Strike 2 is coming to PC this summer and is free for everyone. Everything players have in the current installment will seamlessly carry over to the new installment. Weapons, graphics, and map models in general will receive a significant upgrade. The game's older maps have been completely rebuilt from scratch, leveraging all the tools of the Source 2 engine to showcase their full visuals.
If you've had the chance to try the limited beta, be aware that the version only offers Deathmatch and Unranked Competitive mode on the Dust 2 map, and there will be other modes, maps, and features visible or hidden over time.
