The Dragon Ball series is known for its rich array of unique villains as well as its superhero good guys, but for the first time we have the chance to put all of that into a purely online game that offers a very limited number of modes. Dragon Ball The Breakers.

When reviewing and evaluating the game Dragon Ball The Breakers, we will talk about the game engine and share with you our experience of the online and multiplayer mode in the game, and find out to what extent according to the studio, follow us..

The idea of Dragon Ball The Breakers is very different from any other Dragon Ball game you may have played in the series, as this game is an online multiplayer PvP experience where seven survivors try to find a time machine by locating different locations on a given map while being challenged by another attacker.

Unfortunately, the game featured a very limited number of characters known to players in other parts, but in return it offered a wide variety in the choice of costumes “Skins” as well as accessories with which you can decorate your character.

The most prominent feature of multiplayer games is the gameplay, of course. The game developers at Dimps Studio have managed to master this particular element in the game well by adding the Raids mode. The idea is that there are survivors and attackers, and the goal is to win by any means possible. If you are an attacker, you must eliminate all the survivors to win, but if you are a survivor, you must collect all the keys on the map to escape through the time machine and thus win or eliminate all the attackers, which is a difficult task.

While searching for keys in this mode, you may come across chests that can produce defensive items such as vegetables, gloves, or even a single-use rocket launcher.

The randomness of any item you receive may or may not be very useful. Some of these items, in addition to weapons and defensive measures, include actual Dragon Balls that can also be dropped by rescued humans.I managed to reach them before the radar, which ends their lives once and for all and sends them back to the Lobby.

You can also find radars like the Dragon Radar, which will allow you to find Dragon Balls more easily, find survivors easily, or even find other keys, depending on what level you are. But one of the most important items that you can find dropped by humans or found in these chests are shipping items.

These charging items allow your character to transform and be able to fight the attacker if you are a defender or a survivor. You can use the X button to fly around the attackers. In case you are an attacker, you have up to four levels of transformation, and the only way to do this is by killing the surviving enemies, finding specific items, you can also charge your keys and destroy the environment as you evolve.

One of my favorite things as an attacker was the ability to destroy a certain part of the map with just one hit, frankly speaking, the chances of winning as an attacker are always better than the survivor thanks to the characters you can choose in that particular team.

The game was able to balance the abilities of the survivors and the attackers, for example, the attacker has huge destructive abilities, while the survivor has special abilities to survive, such as ambulance crew members or flying and others.

Supernatural attacks can be activated for both teams by charging skills and collecting items, the most important being the seven well-known Dragon Ball spheres and others that give you the ability, for example, to launch different transformations for very powerful characters, also the level-up system is very important to get items and obtain unique and rare skills.

Unfortunately, the controls and camera are often underwhelming. While moving, your character is often placed at the edge of the frame as if the camera isn't sure what to focus on, and it feels like you're sliding from side to side across the screen.

You will sometimes get tired of the difficulty of controlling some locations on the map, and also during the control of some characters when the pace of the game becomes too fast or sensitive and decisive, here in particular an entire team of players can lose because of this and that is very bad.

The graphics are obviously not the best in this title compared to previous installments of other Dragon Ball games, while the characters maintain their own style and the map varies well with canyon, city, and open space designs, but most of the textures are low-resolution and blurry up close. I really didn't expect the impressive visuals to reach the bar set by a game like Dragon Ball FighterZ, but after seeing how good The Breakers was, I was a bit disappointed.

It is credited to the development team for representing the sounds well, whether at the level of characters or blows and various equipment and other elements, but it remains very weak compared to other games, I do not know if it is really fair to compare the current game as a team and online game only with the other parts of the story, but even if it is excluded the game remains weak in this aspect.

Positives

  • Enjoyable gameplay that maintains what is known about the series.
  • Huge variety of skills and items used in the game.
  • Excellent application of the team play idea.

Negatives

  • Limited number of characters.
  • Very modest graphics and sound representation.
  • The controls and sensitivity to camera movement are annoying.
  • Difficulty finding allies of the same level to get an equal gaming experience.
  • The game's maps are few and over time they become familiar to experienced players and quite the opposite to new players.
  • Various technical issues.

Final assessment

Dragon Ball The Breakers is the first title in the series of its kind, but unfortunately it did not provide content that lives up to its reputation among other titles with many technical issues, mainly in the controls and others.
