CGI was used in the latest episode of The Last of Us, but it's not what you think.

The latest episode 9 of The Last of Us series covered the last events of the game, and that means the last part of Joel and Ellie's journey was fully incorporated into this episode, including the wonderful giraffe scene.

Many on social media platforms have started talking about the giraffe that appeared in the series' latest episode, which most believe to be just CGI and not real. But here's the surprise: A real giraffe was used for the entire scene, and this giraffe even has a name, as it's called "Naboo."
A documentary released by Total Film about the making of The Last of Us series confirmed that Ellie and Joel's companion in this scene was a real giraffe named Nabu. However, only VFX environmental special effects were used.

Furthermore, a great deal of effort was made to ensure that the scene of the giraffe eating Nabu grass from Ellie and Joel's hands was successful, without any untoward situations occurring that could affect the actors or the giraffe.
