CDPR has no plans for a new season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Cyberpunk 2077's recent weak launch can be largely attributed to the release of Edgerunners, the popular Netflix anime that has led to a massive comeback for the game. Edgerunners has obviously seen impressive success on all fronts since its debut, but CDPR is looking to double down on that success with a second season?

This doesn't seem to be part of the plans yet, in an interview with Famitsu, the businessman said CD Red Project Japanese director Satoru Honma says that while he would like to personally work on the second season of the anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was designed as a standalone story, meaning that for now there are no plans to continue.

Personally, I would like to continue working with Japanese studios to produce more animations in the future, partly because we have received very good feedback. However, just to clarify, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is planned as a standalone work, so there is no such thing as “we are already working on” Season 2.

If another season of the anime is produced, it may not necessarily be a continuation of the first, and may end up being something completely separate, even if we may produce more anime in the future, I don't know if we will see a second season.

Of course, there's plenty of content for fans of the title, with the Phantom Liberty expansion set to launch next year for PC and home consoles, while the second installment is also in development, with CD Projekt RED's North American headquarters taking charge of the project.
