Final Fantasy 14 Xbox sales appear to have been modest

About three months ago, Final Fantasy 14 was released for the Xbox console, marking the beginning of Square Enix's titles and the series' release on the Xbox after being restricted to PlayStation devices for a long time. But how did the aforementioned game perform?

Xbox offers the ability to identify the best-selling games on its platform through its website, and while Final Fantasy 14 has yet to receive an official report showing its actual sales on the Xbox platform, what the latter's website mentions doesn't bode well.

Final Fantasy 14's unexpected performance on Xbox

When FF14 was released on Xbox, it didn't leave the top 50 best-selling games list, but it has now left the top 400 best-selling games list on the platform. In addition, the game is now heavily discounted, so that its price has dropped to $23 for the full version in just 3 months. Since its release, as seen below.

The game's failure may be due to the Xbox Game Pass service, which some reports indicate has contributed, in one way or another, to changing consumer behavior on the Xbox platform, as we mentioned in previous news here.

We assure our followers that Xbox players will receive a number of additional features regarding the game as it was released later than other devices, and these features are:

  • Players will get a bunch of paid add-on content for free.
  • The game will only be released through the Xbox Store, and physical copies of it will never be released on the device.
  • The game will support the capabilities of the Xbox Series hardware, offering 4K technology and no lengthy loading screens.

Do you think that sales of the game on the Xbox platform were below expectations and that this affects the releases of other series for the device?
