Sony has excelled in the current generation exactly as expected of it, and as it has done in past generations, by preparing an arsenal of first-party exclusives and putting them into development to support its current PS5.
We've gotten a good set of exclusives in recent years, despite entering the third year of the virtual PS5's life. However, Sony still has a lot to offer, especially from its own titles.
Below we will present you with 7 titles in development for the current generation that we know little about, and the reason is that the company is very conservative with them, so let's get started.
Anonymous title by Studio Bend
One of the secret titles that Sony keeps on its current device is the collective title that Bend Studio is working on. This team is known for having worked on the game Syphon Filter and presented its first major title, Days Gone, which generated controversy.
The team was set to develop the second part of the aforementioned zombie game, but Sony rejected the idea. It then announced last year that it had a dedicated group-type project in development, but we don't know anything about it yet.
Anonymous Santa Monica Team Address
Santa Monica Studio is known to gamers for having given the God of War series its new direction over the past four years. But the latest installment in the Ragnarok series, released last year, was not directed by Cory Barlog.
The reason was that this same director was working at another secret address. In addition to overseeing the game Ragnarok. In addition, the recent and extensive job applications for the studio, which began to appear publicly, have proven that it has a completely new title in development. But what it is and what it looks like, we hope to find out in the near future.
Marvel Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 2 was developed by Insomniac Games last year. While we knew a lot of information about it through the voice actors in it. However, it was not an official information coming from Sony.
The game was shown off with a single, one-and-a-half-minute presentation, which assured us that both types of Spider-Man characters will be playable, as well as the appearance of one of the main enemies, Venom. We also confirmed that the game will be released this year, but so far there is no information about it, the nature of its world or the style of gameplay. So, we will probably wait for a big event from Sony.
The Last of Us Multiplayer Subgame
Last year, Naughty Dog, through its co-president Neil Druckmann, officially announced that a standalone spin-off of The Last of Us was in development. The studio is taking the same approach as the Uncharted series, when it had a spin-off called The Lost Legacy.
The multiplayer game in The Last of Us series will be completely different from the story series. It will introduce new characters, new cities, and will also feature its own story. Unfortunately, so far, we have not received any offers for it, nor even official information. All we know about it are statements from Druckmann only in quick-time events and interviews.
Ghost of Tsushima 2
Ghost of Tsushima 2 has yet to be officially announced. But all of Sucker Punch's frequent job postings require candidates to be familiar with the first installment and its gameplay, or at least have tried it.
There are some other pieces of evidence that prove the existence of the game in development, for example, the studio manager's statement that the story has a sequel, as well as the commercial success of the first part, which led the game to reap millions in sales.
Unfortunately, this might mean we won't see any new installments in the popular Infamous series, but it's okay if it's a Ghost of Tsushima sequel, right?
Death Stranding 2
The first part of the Death Stranding game was exclusive to PlayStation 4, and since the second part has become official, we believe that it will be exclusive to PS5 as well, and this is due to Kojima's good relationship with Sony.
Of course, we know that Kojima is reserved by nature and does not like to reveal all his cards, except in certain moments that usually happen a few weeks or months before the release of the titles. Therefore, we know little about the game, except for the almost return of its old characters, the focus on a female character and a continuation of the story only from the second part.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
Sony has announced titles from third-party studios like Kojima Productions and Aspyr Media. At a recent PlayStation 2021 presentation, it was announced that the latter was developing a faithful remake of BioWare's RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which would be exclusive to PS5 and PC.
The game will later be available for other platforms. The studio has previously ported KOTOR to iOS devices and is no stranger to the title, however, it was reported that development on the new remake has been halted indefinitely in July 2022 after the studio abruptly fired the game's art director and design director.
These are our favorites, the titles we know are in development exclusively for Sony, but the company is still keeping them a secret and keeping their information confidential. Which of these addresses are you waiting to hear news from?
